Changes to timings of the school day
A letter was sent out to all parents informing them that the Governing Body has proposed to change the timings of the school day for both KS1 and KS2 from September 2015. The changes will not affect the timings for the Nursery classes.
We are always working hard to ensure that our practice provides the best possible opportunities and educational experiences for our children.
The proposed timings would allow a staggered lunchtime with KS1 having their lunchtime from 12.00 - 1.00pm and KS2 having their lunchtime from 12.30 – 1.30pm. This will enable us to deliver a lunchtime experience of higher quality as the children in each key stage will have much more space for play and sporting activities.
Additionally, the proposed timings will allow for more curriculum time overall by adjusting break times. The morning session will also be longer enabling us to further raise standards in English and Mathematics.
The changes to the beginning and end of the school day would be minimal. We would begin the school day 5 minutes earlier so children will need to be in the playground for 8.40am, ready for registration at 8.45am. At the end of the day, both KS1 and KS2 would finish at the earlier time of 3.10pm.
Please see current and proposed timetables below.
If you have any concerns or questions, then please do not hesitate to contact the school office and arrange for an appointment to see me.
